As part of their teaching this term the year 10 students have been on a number of educational visits to broaden their horizons and give them the opportunity to learn practically and creatively outside of the classroom.
Their first trip was to the Birmingham Sea Life Centre where the young people were taught about the devastating impact of pollution on the environment and more generally that of human activity on the planet. Young people also had the opportunity to look around the centre and see the centre’s beautiful aquatic plants and animals.
The second trip was to the Midland Air Museum. This outing aimed to provide the students with a historical overview of aircraft, the development of this technology and how being able to travel through the air has transformed the human world. The students were really blown away by the size and complexity of the aircraft they got up close to.
Thirdly students went to visit the award winning science museum Thinktank in Birmingham. Young people took part in an interactive programme of fun activities teaching them about how the world around us works. The students developed their knowledge of engineering and how we use different technologies.
The final trip took the students to Creation Indoor Climbing in Mosley. Here, the students engaged in learning different types of rock climbing. They also learnt about the positive impact that sport and fitness can have on your health and how much fun it can be to try something new and keep active.
All of these trips were thoroughly enjoyed and really helped to expand upon the education the students receive in the Keresley Centre.
