The ITAP Trust provide training packages to local emergency services in countries including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Croatia and Nepal.
Training packages are delivered in:
· Firefighting and urban rescue
· Water rescue
· Traffic incident management
· Communications networks in disaster zones
In August I will be part of a team that will be traveling to Nepal and delivering these training packages to local emergency services in Kathmandu and outlying regions, specifically Kakavitta.
This is phase 2 of an ongoing training and development project in Nepal. Since the earthquake in April and the now urgent need of support we have brought the mission date forward from May 2016 to August 2015.
As part of the mission we are also shipping out some ‘end of service life’ emergency service vehicles, including fire engines and ambulances, to be stationed in districts around the Kathmandu Valley.
We are shipping the vehicles to Mumbai and driving them to Kathmandu. The journey should take us around 4 days. On arrival in Nepal the training teams will split up and begin to deliver the different training packages.
I will be training local response teams in search and rescue techniques in disaster zones.
The people of Nepal are amongst the friendliest and most welcoming people I have ever had the privilege of meeting. Hopefully the equipment and training programs we are delivering out in Nepal will go some way to easing the plight of the people there.
Many thanks for your time in reading this, should you want to find out more about the ITAP Trust or donate to their work please visit their website or contact me at
